My journey with photography began in September 1969, during my first week of high school. The first friend I made there encouraged me to join the camera club. The club president and the staff sponsor saw potential in my work and recognized my talent for capturing special moments. They ensured I had constant access to the club’s camera and plenty of film. At that time, we bought film in bulk—100-foot rolls, roughly 30 rolls of 36 exposures each—and I was never restricted in the number of photos I could take. This freedom continued through college, where I majored in photography and went on to shoot nearly 300 weddings professionally. For me, capturing the perfect shot often meant shooting in burst mode to seize those fleeting moments.

My wife, Donna, and I married in November 1976 and have two children: Tara, a teacher, and Chris, a musician. Our curiosity about the world—whether natural, historical, or man-made—has made travel an essential part of our lives. Though our trips may not always be luxurious, they are always meaningful. We make a point to explore each destination thoroughly. If we’re travelling for a work conference, I often arrive a day or two early and stay a few days longer to unwind and explore. We also take road trips whenever possible, sometimes with Donna and friends or family.

I take great joy in sharing these experiences with others who might not have the chance to replicate them. I understand everyone’s bucket list is unique, and appreciating these differences is part of the adventure. By sharing my journey, I hope to inspire others to find balance and pursue what brings them joy. Life is too short to spend on things you don’t enjoy.

I’ve been a financial planner since 1992, and I’ve learned more about life and appreciating my blessings from my clients than I’ve ever taught them.

My mission is to make a positive difference in every life I touch—family, friends, clients, and the community.
